In a statement, The Afghan Whigs leader Greg Dulli shared a personal anecdote about his former fandom for The Church. “I was an 18-year-old college freshman lying in bed listening to WVXU one night when I heard a song that I later described as sounding like David Bowie fronting The Byrds. Luckily, The Church announced 'The Unguarded Moment' again and I was on my way to purchasing my first import. Shortly after I bought two more after finding out about The blurred crusade and Session. It was official. I loved The Church. Three years later, the four kids who were about to become The Afghan Whigs played The Church's 'One Day' in John Curley's living room and we were off and running…”
