Beyoncé jumps into UK chart race with 'Texas Hold'Em', first track from her upcoming project Act of Rebirth II (via Columbia/Parkwood Ent).
Based on midweek sales and streaming data released by Official chart company“Texas Hold 'Em” has a combined sales advantage of less than 1,500 over the second single, Dua Lipa's “Training Season” (Warner Records).
If “Texas Hold 'Em” plays its cards right, Bey will score a sixth UK No.1 single.
Teased during a Verizon Super Bowl LVIII commercial, “Texas Hold 'Em” opened at No. 9 on the Official Charts last week, for the top debut of the cycle and Bey's 22nd solo UK top 10 hit.
The Houston-raised artist notched 12 other top 10 singles as a member of Destiny's Child, including two lead singles (“Independent Women, Pt. 1” from 2000 and “Survivor” from 2001).
As Bey bounces back mid-week, Dua Lipa's “Training Ground” puts up a good fight. It sits at No.2 on the Official Chart Update and will earn Lipa her 15th UK top 10 single. One of them is “Houdini,” which peaked at No. 2 and is currently at No. 12.
As it stands, Washington-born singer-songwriter Benson Boone's “Beautiful Things” (Warner Records) looks likely at No. 3, his peak position.
Noah Kahan's reign with “Stick Season” (Republic Records) appears to be coming to an end. After a seven-week stay at No.1, the folk hit is forecast to drop to No.5.
After 'Training Ground', the next best new entry has to go to 'Lovers In A Past Life' (Colombia), the latest collaboration between Scottish EDM hitmaker Calvin Harris and English-dubbed singer Rag'n' Bone Man. It's new at No. 19 on the chart update. Rag'n'Bone Man has a perfect two-from-two UK No.1 albums and five top 40 singles. Harris also scored two chart-topping albums and 42 solo top 40 singles in the UK. The pair collaborated on 2019's 'Giant', which reached No.2.
All will be revealed when the official UK Singles Chart is released on Friday, February 23.
