Billie Eilish is gearing up to make waves with her third studio album, which the 22-year-old pop star finally announced will be out this spring in a social media post on Monday (April 8).
Sharing the cover — which finds the singer plunging underwater, seemingly seconds after falling through a door visible at the top of the frame — Eilish confirmed that the album, titled Hit hard and softarrives on May 17th.

The nine-time Grammy winner also confirmed that, like her first two albums, 2019 When we all fall asleep, where do we go? and 2021 Happier than ever, Phineas' brother produced the new LP. She also warned her fans that she won't be releasing any singles before the project's release, noting, “I want to give it to you all right away.”
“Finneas and I really couldn't be more proud of this album and we can't wait for you to hear it,” he added. “I love you, I love you.”
The announcement comes hours after Eilish shared an eerie video teasing the album, in which she descends deeper and deeper into an abyss of dark blue waves, her hands reaching in vain for the surface. Just as it looked like he was about to sink into oblivion, another hand entered the frame and grabbed her arm.
Meanwhile, a piece of music played with a beat that sounded like a video game – to which Eilish gently threw herself.
“READY?” the “Why was I made?” The artist captioned the video.
A few hours before posting the teaser, Eilish had written on Instagram Stories, “TELL YOU SOMETHING TOMORROW.”
Leading up to her big announcement, the Oscar winner teased her next season via mysterious billboards in Los Angeles and New York, touting what appeared to be new lyrics. One of them read, “She's in the headlights, I'm the deer,” while others displayed the messages, “Trying to live in black and white” and “Did I cross the line?”
Eilish recently added all of her 100 million-plus Instagram followers to her 'Close Friends' Story, a move that saw her gain 7 million new followers in just two days. There, he posts blue-hued artwork and cryptic messages that allude to a pending announcement.
