Blood Incantation have announced their new album, Absolute elsewherearriving October 4th via Century Media.
The LP will consist of two epic tracks, “The Stargate” and “The Message,” each lasting over 20 minutes and further exploring the progressive death metal band’s cosmic philosophies.
Ahead of the album's release, Blood Incantation has launched a full AR (augmented reality) campaign with the new Elsewhere Researcher. application and its own Stargate Research Society Discord server: “a home for discussions on all things Blood Incantation.”
The press announcement about the album and new platforms sheds some light on the overall concept of Absolute elsewherewith the following reading as the premise of a science fiction novel:
“Society researchers recently unearthed a 1980s-era floppy disk containing ancient celestial tracking software. The researchers were able to reactivate the space tracker and through a careful study of the visible solar system they observed the appearance of a new red planet in the vicinity of Orion's belt. Researchers also claim that the new planet emits signals intermittently, although no recordings of these transmissions have yet been recorded. The society has made its research available to the public in an effort to warn citizens about the planet's rapid approach toward Earth, with a possible collision occurring in October 2024.
Of course, early October is when Absolute elsewhere drops.
The LP was recorded at Berlin’s renowned Hansa Tonstudios in July 2023 with producer Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Spectral Voice, Kreator). The pre-Weimar-built recording complex was the location of many recordings by the band’s progressive influences such as Tangerine Dream, Eloy, and Brian Eno in the 1970s. Further embracing their surroundings, Blood Incantation even tapped Tangerine Dream’s own Thorsten Quaeschning to contribute lead synths, mellotron, and programming for “The Stargate.”
“Absolutely somewhere else is our most powerful listening extract/musical journey yet; as the soundtrack to a Herzog-style sci-fi epic about the story of the battle for human consciousness itself, via a '70s prog album performed by a '90s future death metal band,” said Paul. Riedl from Blood Incantation in the press. release.
Other collaborators on the LP include Nicklas Malmqvist of Sweden's Hällas (on lead synths/keyboards, piano and mellotron on all tracks) and Sijjin/ex-Necros frontman Malte Gericke (contributing guest vocals in his native language , German). Lastly, the cover art is the work of classic '70s sci-fi artist Steve R. Dodd, and the album's namesake is derived from mid-'70s progressive rock collective Absolute Elsewhere.
