Brandon Lake earns his fourth leader Bulletin boardHot Christian Songs chart as “That's Who I Praise” climbs to No. 1 in survey dated Oct. 19.
Lake, from Charleston, SC, co-wrote the single with Steven Furtick, Benjamin William Hastings, Zac Lawson and Micah Nichols, the latter of whom also produced it.
“Hearing the news about the impact of this song just blows my mind how good God is,” says Lake. Bulletin board. “For me, it's not about record or status. It is the fact that God is moving through this song. I hope this song reminds people who our God is: A mountain that moves, that lifts the body, that breaks the chains… “Him I praise.”
Lake tops Hot Christian Songs, replacing Elevation Worship's “Praise,” which features himself and Chris Brown. The track falls to No. 2 after a 31-week reign.
Such a transfer also occurred on the March 16 chart when “Praise” dominated for the first time, swapping with Lake's solo hit “Gratitude,” which had logged a 28-week stay at No. 1.
Lake's other leader is also a feature with Elevation Worship, “Graves Into Gardens,” which he dominated for two frames in April 2021.
“That's Who I Praise” tops the Hot Christian Songs chart with 3.2 million official US streams and 1,000 units sold Oct. 4-10, according to Luminate. On Christian Airplay, the track climbs 11-7 with 3.9 million streams (up 24%), marking Lake's sixth top ten.
Layton & Brown Break 'Through'
Speaking of Christian airplay, Tasha Layton scores her third top as “Worship Through It,” featuring Chris Brown, climbs 3-1 (5.8 million, up 14%).
Layton, from Pauline, SC, co-wrote the single, which follows “How Far,” which led for two weeks in October 2022 and “Look What You've Done,” a one-week No. 1 in December 2021.
Brown adds his second Christian Airplay leader, after Elevation Worship's “Praise,” on which he's featured with Brandon Lake and Chandler Moore, began a 10-week mandate in May.
