The Brant Bjork Trio, formed by the former Kyuss frontman, has announced a new album. once upon a time in the desertwhich will arrive on September 20 on the relaunched Duna Records label.
Bjork and company also delivered the single “Backin' the Daze,” a relentless groove that showcases a tight combo of Bjork (vocals/guitar), bassist Mario Lallo and drummer Ryan Güt. A nostalgic number, the song's video takes a trip to Bjork's rock past with archival photographs, while the lyrics are quite open about the youthful lusts and desires of those bygone days.
Those themes of nostalgia also tie into the resurgence of Bjork's label, Duna Records, which has been on hiatus since 2006. once upon a time in the desert will mark the relaunch of the label, the future home of Bjork's prolific musical output.
“Things come and go and sometimes they come back,” Björk commented in the press release. “That being said, it is an exciting time for me to officially relaunch Duna Records. Duna was a vision I had in the mid 90's and finally came to fruition in 2002 until its hiatus in 2006. Duna Records was and will continue to be my personal record label, which is a home for all things creative between me and others. that are close to me. “The timing couldn’t be better for Duna to start a new life.”
He continued: “I am very fortunate to be able to maintain a life as the musician that I am. I certainly couldn't do it without all the musicians, music industry partners and of course the fans who have supported me for 25 years. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my musical journey and show my appreciation than to relaunch Duna Records and release new and old music directly to my fans, as it was always meant to be. Pre-orders for once upon a time in the desert will be available soon, and the Brant Bjork Trio is also planning a US East Coast tour in 2025.
