Along with “Liar,” which the singer premiered at the 2024 ACM Awards, the new track is expected to appear on Jelly Roll's next album
Jelly Roll continues to be everywhere: In Alabama, singing Skynyrd with Lana Del Rey, in Dallas, duet with Kid Rock and on Tuesday, in Los Angeles to perform a new song in the season finale The voice.
The poignant acoustic track finds the singer dealing with mental health issues despite a facade where everything seems fine on the surface.
“I'm not okay, I'm barely making it/I'm losing track of the days, I'm losing sleep at night/I'm not okay, I'm hanging on the rails/So if I say I'm okay, just know I've learned to hide it well,” sings Jelly Roll on the track.
“I know I can't be the only one holding on for a good life/But I know God knows when it's all said and done/I'm not okay but everything's gonna be alright/It's not alright but we'll be alright .”
“I Am Not OK” is the second preview from Jelly Roll's upcoming LP, his first since his breakout album Whitsitt Chapel arriving in June 2023. Last week at the 2024 ACM Awards, Jelly Roll debuted “Liar,” another track that's also likely intended for his new album. Jelly Roll has yet to announce a release date for either the single or his next LP.
In addition to other surprise appearances, Jelly Roll will take the stage the weekend of May 30th for Panama Beach, Florida's Gulf Coast Jam. He will then play two shows at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry in early June before a series of festivals at CMA Fest, Colorado's Country Jam and Nebraskaland Days. He will also spend a few nights on Morgan Wallen's One Night at a Time tour and other summer festivals before embarking on his own Beautifully Broken tour at the end of August.
