One of Hip-Hop's most beloved shoes is getting its own day on the calendar. Clarks has announced that it will be on April 26 Wallabee Day.
As mentionted with Hype Beast the British company is giving its signature shoe a unique distinction in an effort to not only give it a point of difference among its entire portfolio, but also to celebrate the model's rich history. This week it was announced that Friday, April 26 will be the first Wallabee day. According to the brand's Instagram account, the idea came from a conversation with one of Rap's sharpest lyricists. Raekwon The Chef. “We have to have a Wallabee day. We need to be able to get out there and say today is the day that everybody rolls their knuckles,” he said, according to a press release.
“We are delighted to announce the launch of our first ever Wallabee Day,” said Tara McRae, Clarks Chief Marketing Officer in an official statement. “It's such an iconic shoe that it's been loved by people around the world and has served as a blank canvas for artists, creators and cultures for generations. Wallabee Day allows us to celebrate not just the shoe, but all the partners who help us reinvent history year after year.”
To mark the occasion, Clarks will be releasing some new colorways of the iconic shoe, customizing and hosting events in select cities around the world. Both Raekwon and Dave East star in the campaign where the “1000 Miles” rapper is seen wearing custom X-LARGE versions of the Wallabee.
