Code Orange were scheduled to embark on a North American tour in February, but canceled the outing due to guitarist Dominic Landolina's “serious health issues.”
In addition to the tour, which would feature support from Gel, Teenage Doll, Soul Blind, Spy and Gridiron, Code Orange also turned down appearances on the ShipRocked cruise and the Pulp Summer Slam. In a lengthy message posted to their social media pages, Code Orange revealed that Landolina's health has been suffering “for the past year.”
The band's full statement reads as follows:
“It pains us deeply to announce that we will be canceling our upcoming headlining tour, as well as the surrounding ShipRocked/Pulp Summer Slam cruise. Our guitarist Dom has been dealing with serious health issues for the last year that have prevented him from playing, performing and living comfortably. While he made an effort during our fall performances, his problems were exasperated by them.
We wanted to give him adequate time to recover before making a group decision and we were very hopeful that he would be able to return in February. In the end it was determined that he cannot play the guitar at this time. We took this decision very seriously and this is the last way we intended to begin this era.
We've been together since we were teenagers, riding in vans and sleeping on the floor for most of our careers. No period has been as difficult for us as the last few years. Now we are focused on recovering our strength. We will return with more stability and with all its strength. Thank you for the continued love and respect. Please support the amazing Gel, Teenage Doll, Soul Blind, Spy and Gridiron in whatever they decide to do. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”
Code Orange was ready to tour in promotion of their new album, The abovewhich was released in September 2023 and features a special appearance by Billy Corgan on the song “Take Shape.”
We recently posted our video interview with frontman Jami Morgan, who talked about The above, collaborating with Corgan, working with new drummer Max Portnoy and more. That conversation can be seen below.
