Drake is being blasted on X, formerly Twitter, for showing online support for the currently incarcerated Tory Lanez. In an Instagram Story post, Drake calls for Tory Lanez's freedom, which has sparked a barrage of online criticism.
Drake, 37, shared an image of Tory Lanez on his Story feed with the words below the photo reading “3 You,” which many assumed signified freedom for Lanez. Lanez, 31, was found guilty in 2022 of a felony charge of shooting and wounding Megan Thee Stallion. In August 2023, Lanez was officially sentenced to 10 years behind bars in connection with the matter.
Several Hip-Hop figures and fans on social media appeared to side with Lanez during his legal ordeal with Megan Thee Stallion, with many believing the shooting incident never happened among other unproven but much talked about theories.
Shots have also been taken via songs towards Megan Thee Stallion, including a perceived take from Drake on the song “Circo Loco” from his joint 21 Savage album, Her Loss. However, 21 Savage claims the Canadian superstar wasn't aiming his verse that way.
Despite the clarification from the Atlanta rapper, some believe that Drizzy has some kind of animosity towards female rappers and that his support of Tory Lanez fulfills those assumptions. We have reactions from X below.
