Dua Lipa danced the night away to kick off the 2024 Grammy Awards at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 4).
The acrobatic first half of the show was perfectly suited to “Training Season,” Lipa's new single out February 15. She hung from a jungle gym that her muscular dancers occasionally flipped over. She later took center stage for a magical light show for “Houdini,” the lead single from her upcoming third studio album. And with her flaming red hair and black leather ensemble, Lipa looked like a rock star gliding down the floor for the finale.
Before his monologue, the evening's stunned host Trevor Noah praised her, calling her one of the “greatest performers of our generation.”
The three-time Grammy winner is nominated for two awards, best song written for visual media and song of the year with “Dance the Night” from Barbie The album. “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish — from the same album — took the trophy for the previous award.
Lipa's last album was in 2020 Future Nostalgiawhich peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. The nostalgic pop and disco set was nominated for album of the Year and won Best Pop Vocal album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Its lead single “Don't Start Now” was nominated for record and song of the year, as well as for best pop solo performance.
Argyllthe spy action comedy Lipa in which he stars as LaGrange, is currently in theaters.
