Electric Six have just announced their headline show at The Limelight, Belfast on November 29, 2024. Blending garage rock, disco, punk, new wave and metal into cleverly silly and straightforward songs that celebrate hedonism in multiple forms, Electric Six found international success through a relentless touring and recording schedule and an unfailing commitment to his over-the-top style, delivering energy and absurdity in equal measure.
After gaining a local following as Wildbunch, Electric Six scored a major hit in the United Kingdom in 2003 with the song “Danger! High Voltage” and their debut album. Firereleased the same year, it earned them a huge cult following with songs like “Dance Commander” and “Gay Bar.” From then on, musicians would come and go from the Electric Six line. The proportions of electronics to guitars would return to change. And from album to album, but their essential formula of dance rock brimming with bombast and madness would never change. Starting in 2005, not a year would pass without a new E6 album and a series of shows featuring Dick Valentine and Co. .would send his fans into a frenzy.
While the COVID-19 pandemic put them on pause for a while, the 2021 covers were set, streets of goldreturned them to their unstoppable calendar, and that of 2023 Turquoise, a set of originals, he presented them in a cheerful and irresponsible way.
Six electric. The band that released an album a year for what seemed like 666 years. The most trusted act in showbiz, there was simply no doubt that each year would bring another E6 record on Metropolis Records. The Mayans based their calendar on Electric Six. Flocks of migratory birds used the new Electric Six disk as a tracking device. Small-time offenders were sentenced to between four and seven E6 albums with time off for wonderful behavior. In a business so fickle, unreliable and unwieldy… the only constant was Electric Six. There was always one album a year… until there wasn't.
Behold turquoise The long-awaited return of the Electric Six studio album is here!!! Perhaps the catchiest and most brilliant album in their catalogue, Electric Six reminds you how deeply fun they can be, hitting you over the head with fourteen pop explosions guaranteed to blast their way into your dance hole.
