Two legendary rappers gathered for a song. On Friday, LL Cool J released his collaboration with Eminem, “Murdergram Deux,” ahead of his album release. The Forcewhich falls next Friday.
“Don't apologize and we'll cause a headache. Me and L gon' set it up, gon' kill it/Any one of you can take it,” Eminem raps on the bridge before LL Cool J chimes in: “So you might as well forget it/Either way you'll regret it the graveyard it's where you're headed.”
While this marks LL Cool J and Eminem's first official release together, they performed “Going Back To Cali” and “Rock The Bells” at the 2021 Rock Hall of Fame ceremony.
Surprisingly, neither artist posted about the song's release on social media. Instead, on Thursday night, LL shared a clip from his video for his latest single, “Proclivities,” featuring Saweetie, which dropped on August 9. He started the new era of the album by releasing solo single “Passion” in July and Joined Rick Ross and Fat Joe for the collaboration “Saturday Night Special” in June.
“We're talking 14 straight-fire tracks, all created by me and the one and only Q-Tip,” LL said in a statement when he announced the album, whose title stands for Frequencies of Real Creative Energylast month. “When you listen to this album, you don't just hear music, you experience a whole new atmosphere, a whole new level of artistic passion.”
Along with the Eminem collaboration, the LP is set to feature tracks with Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes and Nas, and will also include tracks such as “Runnit Back”, “30 Decembers” and “Post Modern”. He'll be performing at the VMAs just days after his LP's release.
As for Eminem, the rapper released his collaboration-filled album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)which was poorly received by critics last month. “The Death of Slim Shady is a star with the yips, sweating to reassure everyone – especially himself – that he's still got it,” reads a review of the album by Rolling StoneRob Sheffield. “He remembers how great he was at it when he was young and hopes to remind you of that by repeating old tricks that he's not necessarily so great at in 2024.”
