New Glasgow-based septet Joy Hotel announce debut album Ceremony along with his lead single, “Jeremiah”. It's a piece that delves into the subject of dealing with uncertainties and navigating conflicting emotions in difficult situations, particularly when dealing with mortality.
Singer Emme Woods says of the song: “Jeremiah is a song about the end of the world from two opposing perspectives. One side welcomes the end, believing that God will be there to meet them and judge them with mercy, the other in a state of existential anxiety as the world moves toward collapse.”
The band recorded their debut album 'Ceremony' at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, Wales, over eleven days. Their sound combines elements of pop, country and psychedelic music from the 60s, incorporating six-part vocal harmonies, noise rock and witty ballads with humor.
Ceremony promises to explore deep themes within everyday experiences, aiming to find moments of celebration within the routine.
It will be accompanied by a short film documenting the making of the album titled 'Come The Ringing Bell'.
