GWAR have announced a vinyl reissue of their debut album. Hello!celebrating the 36th anniversary of the much vaunted 1988 LP.
The reissue is scheduled for September 13 on blood-spattered clear vinyl (and CD) and features blown-up artwork with never-before-seen photographs, including photos from the original album launch in Richmond, Virginia. The band is also reprinting the “GWAR Must Die” t-shirts that were prevalent in the early days.
Blóthar the Berserker, who was originally Beefcake the Mighty's bassist back then, reflected on the first incarnation of GWAR and the punk/thrash of Hello!.
“It was the '80s. I was very young and scared,” Blóthar said in a press release. “I will always remember wandering through the seedy sex arcades of Times Square, pants around my ankles, tears in my eyes… I didn't know I was working on the most important album in the history of shock rock. We were polishing some shit forever… we wanted to call it 'Beat the Meatles', but the record company said no… and 'Hell-O' was born.”
GWAR will embark on a pair of US tours in June and September, with tickets available here. The main dates will be prior to their appearance at Knotfest Iowa on September 21.
If you're planning to see GWAR at a venue near you, be sure to gear up with some of the band's Bud of Gods CBD and Delta products for the ultimate Bohab concert experience.
