Zayn Malik has teamed up with rising Pakistani band Aur on a remake of their hit single, 'Tu Hai Kahan'. The track features the former One Direction singer joining the trio on Hindi vocals. Aur also shared a music video for the song, where Malik reveals his process in his home studio.
“I was incredibly humbled when AUR asked me to collaborate on their song 'Tu Hai Kahan,'” Malik said in a statement. “I love the song and I've brought some of myself into it. I hope people love what we did.”
Aur, made up of band members Ahad, Usama and Raffey, added: “We are very excited about this collaboration as it shows that music has no boundaries. 'Tu Hai Kahan' is such a special song to us and it's hard to describe how surprised we were when we first heard Zayn's voice on the track. We're taking Pakistani music global and can't wait for people to bond over our music.”
“Tu Hai Kahan” was originally released last year when it reached No. 1 on several South Asian charts, including Spotify India and Pakistan.
Last summer, Malik shared “Love Like This,” the start of a new musical era for the singer. Malik also sat down with Alex Cooper for the She called her dad podcast to talk about his return to music and his time in One Direction.
“I'm making a record that I don't think people will expect. It's a different sound to me,” he said. “And there's some other narrative, like real-life experiences and stuff. My daughter is referred to there a few times.”
In 2016, Malik released his debut album Mind of Mine, a critically acclaimed R&B record that included the singles “Pillowtalk” and “Befour”. The singer later released the album Icarus Falls in 2018 and Nobody is listening in 2021. He has also contributed original songs to animated films 10 Liveswhich will premiere at Sundance this month.
