I don't think the music industry has evolved as much as it has had to in the last twenty years. We've gone from buying CDs and vinyl to streaming sites and downloading our favorite songs. The physical aspect of music is dead and now we are digital collectors. However, another musical revolution is taking place and that's thanks to casino games that now feature official music from some of the biggest bands in the world.
iGaming is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and its impact can be felt everywhere. When you visit an online site casino and open the best slot games, the experience is not just about what you see but also what you hear. In the same way that a little background music puts you in a good mood when you exercise, good tunes set the tone when you play slot machines.
However, in the old days, and still today in many slot machines, the music is generic. Not everything, however, as some software developers have seen the opportunity to link music and bands to their titles. It promotes music and also attracts fans of that music to the slots. It's a tactic that seems to have caught on as more and more developers partner with publishers and music bands.
NetEnt started the trend in 2016 with a trio of gang-themed slots
NetEnt, one of the industry's oldest iGaming slots developers, was one of the first to spot an opportunity to establish some musical links. In 2016, the developer released four rock band-themed slots that are popular to this day.
Arguably the most successful of the three was the developer's Guns N'Roses slot, a title inspired by the legendary band of the same name. As players spin the reels in this 5-reel, 4-row, 20 fixed payline slot, they listen to classic songs like Wild Side, Live Wire and Girls, Girls, Girls. It also helps that the presentation of the slot is impeccable, which is no surprise considering this is an area where NetEnt tends to shine.
NetEnt's other three music-themed slots released the same year were Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and Motorhead. As you can see, the developer likes rock music, or so it seems.
Play'n Go, the latest developer to jump on the music slots bandwagon
Play'n Go is another long-established online slots developer that has created some of the most successful slots out there. Book of Dead and Fire Joker are two slots considered among the most popular of all time. Well, in recent years, Play'n Go has taken branded music slots to a whole new level. The leading developer has partnered with more than a dozen bands, most of which, like NetEnt, are rock bands.
When you check out the studio's slots portfolio, you'll find titles like Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard: Hysteria, *NSYNC Pop, and KISS Reels of Rock. Other bands with Play'n Go slots released to their name include Twisted Sister, Black Mamba, Alice Cooper, ZZ Top and Snakebite. I'm sure the developer isn't done yet either. It makes me wonder which bands are next on the list to have their music blasting while players spin the reels.
Other developers with exclusive Band slot games
Not many other slot developers have followed the lead of NetEnt and Play'n Go, but that could be due to the cost element that comes with branded slots. That being said, I know of a couple of other gang-themed slots. Leander Games was arguably the first developer to partner with a band for a slot machine. The developer launched Megadeth in 2012, four years before NetEnt launched its range of music slots.
Aside from that, there is Village People Macho Moves, a 15-payline slot from Fortune Factory Studios. It's one of the only branded music slots that isn't themed around a rock band, which is refreshing. Instead, it's themed by a band famous for their loud '80s disco tunes, like Macho Man and YMCA Admit it, you're doing those infamous arm signs now, right?
If any of you haven't played some of these fantastic titles yet, be sure to add them to your play list for the next time you visit online casinos. I can promise you that listening to classic hits while you spin the reels really enhances the occasion. You can tap your feet, sing and even shake your head as you win prizes in fantastic slot games. I've actually refreshed my own memory by writing this, so I think it's about time I revisited some of these myself!
