Idris Elba, one of North America's highest-grossing actors, is enhancing his love of dance music after signing a multi-single deal with Defected. EDM.comThe best record label of 2022.
The pact with Defected is a pivotal moment in Elba's DJ and producer career, providing a venerable platform for a series of upcoming singles, which will be released under his IDRIS alias on Defected and his D4 sub-label D4NCE.
The announcement comes on the heels of Elba's remix of Fish Go Deep and Tracey K's “The Cure & The Cause,” which was released to celebrate Defected's 25th anniversary.
Elba had performed at several international Defected events, including parties at Miami Music Week and Manchester's The Warehouse Project in 2023. The British icon's first solo song with the label, “La Trumpeta,” is scheduled for release on March 8 and is said to showcase their “signature global sound in full force.”
“I am very excited to be able to announce this signing with Defected Records,” Elba said in a press release. “Since I worked with them on 'No More Looking Back' and played several parties over the years with them, it seemed natural to release some of my original songs with them. You guys aren't ready for what's coming.”
