Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff have been a team since they first teamed up in 2013, and in the years since, the producer revealed that there's a part of Swift that gets him in the mood every time.
Talking to me Vulture In an interview published Monday, the Bleachers frontman dove into his production credits and shared what shocks him most about working with a fellow musician. “I'm not easily shocked, but the things that shock or surprise me are often the most beautifully written things,” he told the report.
Antonoff further explained that “someone's vulnerability in a song” stands out to him more personally, which led him to showcase a track from Swift's 2022 album Midnight as an example. “The end of 'You're On Your Own, Kid' is one of those moments for me. I remember, he wrote it right in front of me and then we put it down and I was completely punched in the gut. Beautiful.”
The eight-time Grammy winner also discussed which of Swift's tracks was the hardest for him to create and discussed a fan favorite from 2020 Folklore. “The end of 'August,' the strings and the full guitar — that was a point that was really on my mind, production-wise, for a long time,” he explained. “The ending should be so euphoric. Talks like “Meet me back at the mall” and “Back when we lived for everyone's hope.” I kept hanging on to all her lyrics and being like, That crescendo at the end should feel like all of it, catching fire.”
Antonoff has no plans to stop working with Swift anytime soon, assuring fans that the pair “will continue to work together until 2089.”
