Julia Holter Announces New album & tour, Shares Video for New Song 'Spinning'

Julia Holter Announces New album, Something in the room moving, and shared a new song, “Spinning,” via a music video. He has also announced some new tour dates. Something in the room moving will be released on March 22 via Domino. Juliana and Nicola Giraffe directed the “Spinning” video. Holter had this to say about “Spinning” in a press release: “It's about being in a passionate state of making something: being in that moment, and what is that moment?”
“There's a physical focus, inspired by the complexity and transformability of our bodies,” he says of the new album. “I was trying to create a world that has a fluid sound, like water, that evokes the internal sound world of the body.”
The album title was partly inspired by the Beatles song “Something” and its lyrics, “Something in the way she moves”. Holter, a lifelong Beatles fan, sang Beatles songs to her daughter in the evenings.
Something in the room moving features “Sun Girl,” a new song Holter shared in November that was one of the songs of the week.
Something in the room moving is its sequel Poultry farm, her last regular new album, released six years ago. It was the album of the week and entered the Top 10 on the list of the 100 best albums of 2018.
Since then she has been busy, including composing the score for the 2020 film Eliza Hittman Never Rarely Sometimes Always and working with the North of England Opera Chorus on a new live soundtrack for the 1928 silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc, written and performed by Holter. He recently worked with Call Super, Beverly Glenn-Copeland and Max Tundra.
