Pop superstar Justin Timberlake and golf legend Tiger Woods are expanding their entertainment empire across the Atlantic, setting their sights on the historic town of St Andrews, Scotland.
The duo's latest venture will see the beloved New Picture House Cinema transformed into a high-end one T-Squared Social location.
Following the success of their New York flagship, Timberlake and Woods' latest luxury sports bar project will feature state-of-the-art sports simulators, duck bowling and darts while also retaining two original movie screens – a nod to the venue's rich history.
Fife Council gave the project the green light, praising its potential to regenerate the area. The renovation is expected to create 40 to 45 new jobs, giving a significant boost to the local economy. According to the documents, the plans will allow local people to “experience a wider range of cinema, food and entertainment” and will be “crucial in helping to secure a cinema offer in the future”.
Under the terms of the project's approval, work must begin within the next three years.
For Timberlake, the St Andrews location holds special significance. The “Mirrors” singer is no stranger to the legendary links, having competed in the 2019 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Christopher Anand, CEO of Nexus Luxury Collection, the real estate venture behind T-Squared Social, said: “We are committed to honoring the heritage of the theater by creating a contemporary entertainment destination.”
The announcement comes at a difficult time for Timberlake, who recently ran into legal trouble with a DWI arrest in Sag Harbor, New York on June 18.
The singer addressed the incident three days later during a concert in Chicago on June 21, telling the crowd: “It's been a tough week. I know it's hard to love sometimes, but you keep loving me right back. We've been together through ups and downs, left and right … but you're here and I'm here and nothing can change right now right now.”
During his June 29 performance in Boston, the singer appeared to take his arrest with a touch of humor. “So, uh, is there anyone here tonight who drives?” Timberlake asked the cheering crowd in a fan-captured clip posted to Tik Tok. “No, I'm kidding,” he added quickly.
JT's attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said he would “vigorously” defend the star against the charges. “He will have a lot to say at the right time,” Burke said in a statement.
