First the single, then the album, now Justin Timberlake completes his solo comeback with the confirmation of a world tour.
The former boybander announced the big news when he stopped by TThis Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonto surf on the guest sofa.
The Forget Tomorrow World tour will support JT's upcoming collection Everything I thought it washis first solo album in more than six years.
It will be released on March 15, EITIW is Timberlake's sixth studio LP and his follow-up Man of the Woods which reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in February 2018, for his fourth consecutive solo leader.
As a warm-up, the pop singer will play a small capacity performance in New York on Wednesday, January 31, the 1,100-capacity Irving Plaza.
Fallon teased the tour news from JT, in a completely over-the-top, pre-staged way.
Was there anything else to announce, did the late night show host push his musical guest? So, yes, “we're still putting together the setlist for Irving Plaza,” Timberlake noted.
But wait, there was more.
“I'm going on tour,” was the dry reply.
The 10-time Grammy Award winner gave fans a taste of things to come earlier this week with the release of “Selfish,” the first track from EITIW. He will be back on our screens as a musical guest Saturday night live this weekend, with Dakota Johnson hosting.
Although his solo music career has stalled, Timberlake returned to his band roots last year when he reunited with *NSYNC for “Better Place,” which accompanied the animated family film starring JT. Trolls Band Together. The track started at No. 25, for the lucky 13 of *NSYNCu appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 and first chart appearance since “Girlfriend” with Nelly reached No. 5 — way back in 2002.
As a solo artist, Timberlake has earned 19 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including five No. 1s.
