Khruangbin has returned with “May Ninth,” the latest dreamy offering from his upcoming album. TO THE ROOM.
With soft, tender drums and an absolutely warm guitar line from Mark Speer, “May Ninth” is a soft, melancholic ode to warmer days. “Oh, what a dream for me / Waiting for May to come,” Laura Lee and Speer sing in their respective octaves, evoking the longing feeling of early winter where summer feels like light years away. Khruangbin may long for warmth and sunshine, but they create it from the ground up on “May Ninth.” The song also arrives with an animated video directed by Nathaniel Murphy, Jenny Lucia Mascia and Jeremy Higgins; Check out the official viewer below.
“Noveno de Mayo” follows the previous one TO THE ROOM single “A Love International”. TO THE ROOM, out April 5 via Dead Oceans, will be the trio's fifth studio album. His last work was his collaborative LP with Vieux Farka Touré, Alias well as their Texas Moon EP with fellow Texan Leon Bridges in 2022.
