Kid Cudi and Kanye West it's cool again. During a recent interview, the latter said that a sincere apology from Ye was what led them to quell their latest public fallout.
Cudi released Apple Music 1 and spoke to Zane Lowe about a number of topics, but of course the first thing many want to know is what's going on with him and Yeezy? In case you need to catch up, the two friends haven't exactly been on good terms recently. Back in 2022 (he was also out before), Ye left his Doda album, and Cudi was conspicuously absent from it despite being one of his most frequent collaborators. But Ye then poured salt into the wound, clarifying that Cudi's absence was due to him being friends with Pete Davidson, who at the time was seeing Ye's soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
The “Day N Nite” rapper went on to emphasize that their friendship lasted nearly two years before they were seen hugging it out in late 2023 while Ye was live streaming. Vultures album, which still hasn't dropped, btw.
But now that Cudi is promoting his latest album, INSANE, he and Ye are brothers, again. “Brothers hurt you more,” Cudi told Zane Low. “That's how you go through things, but family is always there. You don't leave the family. And I think in the thick of it, when it was going down, I wanted to leave. I wanted to give up, but when I think about it for the last two years, it's like a brother of mine who finally came into my life and supported me and did things for me that no one else did for me at the beginning of my career. People don't even know that Kanye paid for the first daily video when I didn't have a deal. This was like, it needs a video, so I'm getting paid for it. The guy saw me shoot it, he saw me the first director. He didn't know me, but I was sure I was doing him a favor and such a mess.”
Really really. But it was Ye who said “sorry” that sealed the deal, this time.
He adds, “He's learning and growing. He knows he made some mistakes and I think that's the beauty of him, it's a nice thing. It's like he knows he's been on one hell of a ride and he knows, he's said some things that he may not be able to come back from in many realms, in many spaces by certain people. But we grow up and I think I pray for him, and he is my brother. And the reason we became cool again is because he apologized to me and was honest. I was just like 'Wow'. Kanye apologizes to no one and says sorry to no one. And that's my brother, man. I know he loves me and there's nothing like Kanye and Cudi. We like the duo that everyone likes to see.”
Until it isn't. Concerning Insano, Cudder is very excited about it. “I want people to definitely have the conversation about my sh*t being one of the best albums of the year,” he said. “I didn't want to have doubts. I wanted to make something that was completely unmistakable.”
