Killer Mike has his foot on the gas pedal in 2024, carrying over the momentum from his three Grammy wins earlier this year. He gave one of his own Michael The standout is undergoing a mini-makeover on Friday (April 26), as an extended remix of “Exit 9” arrived featuring a new verse from the 49-year-old Atlanta rapper and a guest appearance from Offset.
The Migos rhymer steals the show as he reflects on those he's lost along his journey with a thoughtful verse: “Grandma passed away, wish I could go back and find time/ Ayy, and I can't live without regrets/ VVS around my neck and I'll kill for my respect/ I'm done with it and now I'm done with the debt.”
Cruising down the freeway before taking Exit 9 onto Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Killer Mike detours to add a handful of bars to the remix, which finds him paying tribute to late Dungeon Family member Rico Wade.
“Passing the time,” I say a prayer for the fallen soldiers/ Rest in peace Bruce and may God be with DG Yola/ It hurts like hell to say it, but rest in peace Rico Wade,” he raps.
Both verses are tied together by an infectious chorus from Blxst. The original “Exit 9” appeared on Killer Mike's 2023 album Michael.
Mike's powerful project picked up the Grammy trifecta earlier this year, where he won Best Rap album and Song and Best Rap Performance.
