The Los Angeles District Attorney's office will not pursue the matter after the rapper completed “a community service requirement that was imposed.”
Killer Mike will not face charges stemming from his arrest at the Grammy Awards in February.
The Los Angeles City Attorney's office has opted not to file criminal charges against rapper Michael Render, it was revealed Wednesday. “Mr. Render successfully completed the Office's hearing process, including a community service requirement that was imposed,” a spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter).
Killer Mike was initially handcuffed and taken into custody after an alleged “physical altercation” at Los Angeles' Crypto.com Arena shortly after winning Best Rap album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Feature during the pre- -prizes.
During the alleged incident on February 4, Render encountered a female security guard near her designated entrance. The guard told police he asked for Renderer's tickets and took him to a security checkpoint. At that point, she claims Renderer tried to work his way around her and when she “ran and got in front of him again,” he allegedly “pushed her to the ground,” sources said. Rolling rock at that time.
Killer Mike was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge, booked, processed and then quickly released on his own recognizance. “As you can imagine, a lot happened and there was some confusion around the door that my team and I had to enter,” Render said in a statement at the time. “We experienced an overzealous security guard, but my team and I have every confidence that I will eventually be cleared of any wrongdoing.”
The Run the Jewels rapper briefly addressed his arrest a week later during an interview with the Daily show. “I won't talk about my thing, but I was sitting in a jail cell and I had nothing to do, so I just prayed,” he said, referring to his arrest. “And I thanked God for three hours. I would say, you know, just “Thank you for the blessings that have been given to me. Thank you for the life you gave me.' I invoked the spirit of my mother and my grandmother… After I got out the next morning, I got a call that my son got a kidney [after years of waiting for surgery]. So I'm much more loyal.”
