Kim Gordon has announced her second solo studio album. The colective is due out March 8 via Matador, and the Sonic Youth musician is celebrating the news with lead single “BYE BYE,” as well as a series of 2024 tour dates.
Gordon's follow-up to his 2019 debut No address registration brought it back to producer Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, Charli
Those colliding genres are especially evident on the thunderous, deafening “BYE BYE.” You'd probably never guess it's a Kim Gordon song until his monotone voice comes in, reciting what sounds like his bucket list before a big trip: “Buy a suitcase, take your pants to the dry cleaners,” he raps. “Call the vet, call the groomer/Call the dog sitter.”
Soon, roaring guitars play, almost as if indicating travel anxiety, or something more sinister. Better yet, the music video for “BYE BYE” stars Gordon's daughter, Coco Gordon Moore, and the apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree.
Gordon's tour dates begin March 21 in Burlington, Vermont. He will make stops in DC, New York, Los Angeles, Ventura and San Francisco during the rest of the month. Pre-sales for the Los Angeles and San Francisco shows begin Wednesday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m. PT on Ticketmaster (use code STAND OUT), while tickets for the rest of the dates will be available here.
