Canadian metal veterans Kittie and South Africa's We Are PIGS have joined forces to launch a new brand of non-alcoholic beer, appropriately named KittiePIG.
The joint NA beer collaboration grew out of a previous musical collaboration between Kittie's Morgan Lander and We Are PIGS on the latter's 2021 single. “Debatable.”
It seems that the bands not only share an affinity for the same style of 2000s industrial alternative metal, but also for NA drinks, or at least having a non-alcoholic option. KittiePIG was created specifically with metal musicians and headbangers in mind to “offer alternative beverage options at shows and music festivals,” filling “a gap in the market,” as Esjay Jones of We Are PIGS stated in a statement.
KittiePIG's first beer is a Saskaberry Blonde, brewed with saskatoon berries, native to Kittie's Canadian prairies, along with hops and barley.
“I'm so excited for the metal masses to try KittiePIG!” Lander enthused via the press release. “Making our own NA drink is new and uncharted territory for us, but I think we've truly created something delicious and decadent without the usual regrets. With an homage to our Canadian roots thrown in for good measure with the added flavor of Saskatoon berries, it is certainly a unique flavor experience that beer aficionados and casual drinkers alike will love.”
Jones, who conceived the idea for the NA brand, added: “We identified a gap in the market for non-alcoholic beverages that cater to both music fans and health-conscious people. Market research showed that consumers have shifted toward healthy alternatives, seeking low-sugar and alcohol-free options. KittiePIG's goal is to fill this gap by offering a product that is not only desirable and delicious, but also satisfies fans' wants and needs.”
Maybe we'll see KittiePIG behind the bar at a heavy metal show in the near future. For now, you can order 4-packs and 12-packs through KittiePIG's website. See a close-up of the can design below.
