Latin Airplay & Regional Mexican Airplay Rules by Shakira & Grupo Frontera “(Entre Paréntesis)”

Shakira and Grupo Frontera celebrate a double victory Advertising signShakira's Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay charts as “(Entre Paréntesis),” their first collaborative single, tops both charts dated May 18. The track is Shakira's second Mexican regional pair and her first to rule both charts simultaneously.

In Latin Airplay, “(Entre Paréntesis)” jumps 2-1 to top the overall Latin radio chart despite a 3% drop in audience impressions, to 9.63 million, at US radio stations during Week 3 -May 9, according to Fotina.

With the ascent, Shakira adds to her record 23rd Latin Airplay No. 1 among women in the chart's nearly 30-year history. Here's an updated list of female artists with the most No. 1s on Latin Airplay released in 1994 (overall, J Balvin continues to hold the top spot overall, with 36 No. 1s):

Grupo Frontera, meanwhile, lands its third champion, following Fuerza Regida's 'Bebe Dame' for one week at the top in 2023 and Bad Bunny's 'Un X100to' for a six-week reign in 2023.

“(Entre Paréntesis)” is the ninth single from Shakira's 12th studio album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, released on March 22. The set cracked the Billboard charts, including a No. 1 debut on Top Latin Albums and Latin Pop Albums, and a top 10 debut on Top Sales Albums and Vinyl Albums (dated April 6).

“(Entre Paréntesis)” is the second local Mexican song to top both Latin Airplay and Regional Mexican Airplay. The previous “Por El Contrario,” by Becky G featuring siblings Leonardo and Angela Aguilar, topped both charts for a week on the chart dated March 9.

In Regional Mexican Airplay, “(Paréntesis)” takes the lead (up 2-1) with 7.32 million audience impressions, down 4% on regional Mexican stations. The move gives Shakira her first No. 1 on the chart since “El Jefe,” featuring Fuerza Regida, took her to a high of No. 9 in November 2023. The Edinburg, Texas band's ninth No. 1 and moves into a tie with Banda MS de Sergio Lizarraga and Grupo Firme for third No. 1 this decade.
