this week in In defense of ska, Russian traditional ska band Lollypop Lorry talks covering “I Won't Let You Go”, collaborating with Inspector and the Russian ska scene. Listen above, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Formed in 2008, Lollypop Lorry is a Russian ska group that just presented the biggest show in their history… in Mexico. Suffice to say, it has been an interesting journey from humble beginnings to finding international success. Luckily, guitarist Ivan Gogolin and drummer Simon Shiriaev are here to explain the whole story.
The two members of the band also talk about their love for Jamaican ska, their viral cover of “I Won't Let You Go” by Keith & Ken and collaborating with people like Inspector and Out of Control Army. They also throw themselves into the inner workings of the Russian ska scene, shouting out other bands that deserve their flowers.
