Luísa Sonza talked about getting Demi Lovato on her track “Penhasco2,” how she writes her songs and more backstage at Billboard Women in Music 2024.
Luisa Sonza:
I'm Luísa Sonza and I'm going to tell you three things about my music that you don't know.
First, I had to do “Penhasco2” by myself, but one day, Roy, my producer, called me and said, “Send me some artists you'd like to do a song with.” I send some of my favorite artists and one of them was, like, Demi Lovato. We sent this song I made like a year ago called “Penhasco2”. I was sure she will like it and want to do it with me, I think so. He sent it to Demi and Demi accepts and it was amazing. And one more thing, Demi: She obviously sings in English, but she wanted to learn Portuguese and sing in Portuguese. That's why Demi is amazing, you know, not just that. She is incredible.
Second thing: I think my favorite place to play is Sao Paulo — it's not my hometown, but I live there. And I don't know, it feels like home, you know, so I like playing there.
How I wrote my songs with my producers: I start writing whatever comes to my mind, if I think of a phrase, or I experience some things that I start writing. Most people don't know that. So when I say, “Oh my god, I did my last album in three months,” no, I just produced my album in, like, three months, but I'm always writing and people don't know about it .
I almost died speaking English. I don't even know how to say it in Portuguese. Crazy st, guys.
