Madonna made headlines last week when a video clip of the pop queen accidentally yelling at a fan in a wheelchair for sitting during her performance hit the internet. The fan who caught Madonna's attention has since spoken out about the much-talked about moment.
“What are you doing sitting down there? What do you get to sit on?' Madonna is heard asking in the clip, singling out concertgoer Vanessa Gorman at one of her recent Celebration tour concerts, before walking to the side of the stage to get a closer look.
When the star realized the woman was in a wheelchair, she changed her tune, saying, “Oh, okay. Politically incorrect. Sorry for that.”
“I'm glad you're here,” Madonna said, addressing Gorman, who was interview about the viral moment by TMZ.
As a fan, Gorman admitted she was impressed that she was noticed — not insulted — and said she knew it was wrong. In fact, in a video shot from her point of view, Gorman can even be heard shouting “I love you!” to Madonna during the interaction.
“Some people are in wheelchairs and can stand. He had no idea I was paralyzed,” Gorman, who is a paraplegic from a 1999 car accident, told TMZ on Friday (March 15).
She noted that she was happy that Madonna apologized immediately and that she continued to enjoy the rest of the show.
