Illegals are they're coming to nashville. On Tuesday, August 6, Rolling Stone will team up with George Dickel Whiskey to present a tribute to Wanted! The illegalsthe first country music album to ever go platinum.
Hosted by Rolling Stone Senior Music Editor Joseph Hudak, the event will feature performances of covers from the album by Silverada, Taylor Hunnicutt, Brent Cobb and Maggie Rose, each “outlaw” in their approach to their music.
With her raspy, soulful vocals and rock 'n' roll attitude—not to mention a headlining slot on the Red Clay Strays tour—Alabama native Hunnicutt is a rising star on the outlaw scene. Songs like “Alabama Sound” and “All or Nothin” reflect a top performer preparing for stardom.
Texas band Silverada (formerly known as Mike and the Moonpies) have gone from honky-tonk heroes to headlining gigs. This year, they released a self-titled album under their new name and celebrated with a headlining show at Nashville's famous Ryman Auditorium.
Cobb draws inspiration from his home state of Georgia, where southern rock, soul, blues and country music collide. This sonic fusion shaped Cobb's productive songwriting abilities, making him the writer of choice for artists such as Miranda Lambert and Luke Combs. In Cobb's own songs, such as those from his latest album Southern starhis soulful voice quietly commands attention as he tells the stories of farm life in the South.
Rose may not be synonymous with the country circuit, but the powerhouse singer's rebellious attitude and unconventional approach to her career make her an “outlaw” in every sense of the word. Rose leaned into her soulful styles and created a lane of her own with its release No one gets out alive, one of Rolling Stone's best albums of 2024 so far. It shows her reinvention – not to mention killer vocals and deft songwriting.
The event will take place at the famous Nashville Palace honky-tonk, where names like Randy Travis first got their start. After solo performances of some of the most beloved bootleg country songs in history (all supported by Silverada), the artists will take the stage for a rousing finale and a toast to Rolling Stone Country's top 10.u anniversary with a shot of Dickel Whiskey.
No stranger to the outlaw mentality, George Dickel has combined tradition, innovation and risk-taking over the past 150 years. Based outside of Nashville in Normandy, Tennessee, in beautiful Cascade Hollow, the brand has been revitalized by General Manager and Distiller Nicole Austin, who has introduced new products and techniques.
The Rolling Stone and George Dickel event with Silverada, Taylor Hunnicutt, Brent Cobb and Maggie Rose is by invitation only.
