This year's Grammy season officially wrapped up at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday (February 4th), with music's biggest stars gathering under one roof to celebrate each other's wins and, in between, cheer on each other's performances the other 's.
And, as usual, the 2024 ceremony offered a variety of musical numbers from chart-toppers of all genres. The night kicked off with an energetic dance-pop showcase from Dua Lipa who warmed up the crowd for about a dozen more acts, including Miley Cyrus — who dropped her single “Flowers,” which would later go on to score the record of the year — Travis Scott, Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Burna Boy, Travis Scott, SZA and, from a distance from the Sphere Arena in Las Vegas, U2.
The show also made sure to honor living and younger music legends, with Tracy Chapman joining Luke Combs to help him sing “Fast Car” and Joni Mitchell making her Grammy debut at age 80 together with Brandi Carlile, Alison Russell. Lucius, Blake Mills and Jacob Collier. Additionally, Fantasia brought the crowd to their feet with a roaring tribute to Tina Turner, who died in May, and Billy Joel performed his first new single in years, “Turn the Lights Back On.”
Beyond the dynamic field of performances, the 2024 Grammys were full of exciting moments. Taylor Swift both made a surprise announcement of her next album Department of Tormented Poets She made history by winning album of the year for the fourth time in her career. Jay-Z didn't mince words in a pointed but appreciative Roast of the Recording Academy. and Celine Dion made a surprise appearance towards the end of the series after more than a year out of the spotlight amid her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome.
