Get ready to dance: Miley Cyrus stopped by the 2024 Grammy Awards to perform a performance of her hit single, “Flowers,” which won Best Pop Solo Performance, marking Cyrus' first Grammy win.
After accepting the award (and making several jokes about how excited she was to see her host, Mariah Carey), Cyrus was dragged offstage. Upon her return later that night, she brought “Flowers” to life, taking the stage solo to sing the song with a celebratory feel, even augmenting the lyrics at one point to celebrate the victory. At the end of the song, she riffed on the line “I can love myself better, baby,” and then triumphantly tossed the microphone stand. Everyone from Taylor Swift to Terry Crews to Oprah seemed to be having a great time. Watch a clip of the performance below.
Beyond performing and winning Best Pop Solo Performance, Cyrus still has a big night ahead of her. She is nominated for several other awards, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Flowers” and Album of the Year for Endless summer vacation, the album the song comes from. In the past, Cyrus has received eight Grammy nominations, but she never got to take the gramophone home until tonight.
Additionally, Cyrus is nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album (for Endless summer vacation), and was nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (for her song “Thousand Miles,” with Brandi Carlile).
“Flowers” debuted in January 2023 as the first single from Endless summer vacationwhich arrived on March 10, 2023. Since then, Cyrus appeared in the second season of Hormonal monsterscollaborated with Dolly Parton, released a few more singles (including “Used to Be Young”, which has since been added to the digital songs chart of Endless summer vacation), and more. Next, she will appear on the Talking Heads tribute album. Everyone's Getting Into It: A Talking Heads Tribute That Stops Making Sense.
