Nearly two weeks after he was arrested for allegedly throwing a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar, country superstar Morgan Wallen posted a statement on his X account about the incident.
In a two-part response, the country superstar tweeted: “I didn't feel good about checking in publicly until I make amends with some people. I have touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family and the good people at Chief's. I am not proud of my behavior and accept responsibility…. I have the utmost respect for the officers who work every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change. – MW”
Wallen was arrested and briefly jailed on April 8 after allegedly throwing the chair from the sixth-floor ceiling of Eric Church's newly opened bar Chief's, located on Lower Broadway in Nashville. According to reports, the chair landed a few feet away from two Nashville Metro Police officers. Wallen was arrested and booked just after midnight and charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, posting $15,250 bond to secure his release around 3:30 a.m.
Wallen's attorney Worrick Robinson of Worrick Robinson Law, confirming the arrest, told Billboard in a statement: “At 10:53pm Sunday night Morgan Wallen was arrested in downtown Nashville for reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. He is fully cooperating with the authorities.”
The incident came just days after Wallen, 30, kicked off his 2024 One Night at a Time tour. The tour continues Saturday night (April 20) in Oxford, Mississippi at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The singer's next court date in the incident is May 3. is scheduled to play at Nissan Stadium in Nashville on May 2nd and 3rd.
The Chief's official Instagram account responded on April 9, sharing a photo of a new sign outside the nightclub that read: “Our pigs fly, our chairs don't.”
