Nicki Minaj and her Barbz fans are as rabid as they come (online anyway). So when the Queen The rapper canceled her New Orleans concert at the last minute, ticket holders holding her feet to the fire in the Crescent City.
Just hours before Nicki Minaj took the stage at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on March 18, the arena took to its official Instagram page to break some hearts and announce that Nicki would not be performing as scheduled.
Captioning the post, the Center explained, “Due to doctor's orders, Nicki Minaj has to reschedule her NOLA show tonight. With Nicki still sick, our team doesn't want to take the risk of getting others sick and Nicki not being able to give NOLA the show she deserves. We are working diligently to find a new date, so please hold onto your tickets and we will let you all know soon.”
Naturally, fans were up in arms over the last-minute announcement and took to the comments section to express their disappointment.
While many were upset at the simple fact that the cancellation was announced so late in the day, others questioned the fact that they put up a lot of money to travel there to see her play with one person writing: “Y'all understand people used there PTO, paid for rooms, travel and tickets on top of that, that alone is a $500-$1,500 trip, especially if you got the GAG city package. They are more upset because of it [unprofessionalism.] Surely they should have said something yesterday instead of hours before the show.”
Understandable.
However, others defended Nicki, saying she should put her health first. Some pointed out the hypocrisy in some of the comments writing: “Everyone gets sick and you call from work all the time. Go touch some grass. You will find any reason to dislike this lady. Have a nice day my friend.”
Well, they're not wrong.
People then took to X to continue arguing about what was right and wrong in this situation, with many wishing Nicki a speedy recovery. But fans were still upset that they didn't get to see their favorite female rapper perform in person, right before it was all set to go down.
The cancellation comes days after Nicki's performance at Rolling Loud in California, which she posted about days ago. And that post was met with comments from people protesting that he canceled it Pink Friday Tour show in New Orleans with a comment that read: “How do you cancel the concert hours before it makes people buy clothes and tickets for all these dgaf rappers.”
No word yet on when the canceled Nicki Minaj will join. I better believe the crowd will be a little salty whenever it goes down, but of course they'll be there when the time comes.
