Norah Jones has returned to announce her ninth studio album, Visions, available March 8. She also planned a brief East Coast tour and shared the album's lead single, “Running.” stream it below.
Visions serves as Jones' first album since 2020 pick me up from the ground, and is described in a statement as “feeling free, wanting to dance, doing it well and accepting what life brings.” Produced by Leon Michels (The Michels Case, The Arcs), Visions It presents a more uplifting and moving sound than their previous album.
“The reason I called the album Visions “It's because a lot of the ideas came in the middle of the night or that moment right before you go to sleep, and 'Running' was one of them where you're half asleep and you wake up with a start,” Jones said in a Press release. “We did most of the songs the same way: I was on piano or guitar and Leon was playing drums and we were just playing stuff. I like the rawness between Leon and me, the way it sounds kind of garagey but also kind of soulful, because that's where he comes from, but not too perfected either.”
In addition to announcing Visions, Jones has planned a brief tour of the East Coast for this spring. Beginning with a May 6 date in Boston and concluding with an appearance at Freihofer's Saratoga Jazz Festival in Saratoga, New York, Jones will also play in Philadelphia; Washington DC; and the new Brooklyn venue, The Brooklyn Paramount. See the full list of dates below.
TO Live Nation Ticket Presale is scheduled for Thursday, January 25 (use code STAND OUT), followed by a public sale on Friday, January 26 via Ticketmaster.
Once tickets go on sale, you can also find them at StubHub, where orders are 100% guaranteed through StubHub's FanProtect program. StubHub is a secondary market ticketing platform and prices may be above or below face value depending on demand.
On “Running,” Michel’s warm sax and snare-heavy drum beat certainly give the song momentum, but Jones’ versatile vocals cool it all down. He narrates the feeling of life's unpredictability, reflecting on a love that “could be wrong or could be right.”
Perhaps not surprisingly, Jones does a light jog in the green-screen video for “Running.” Watch the clip, directed by Joelle Grace Taylor, below.
