Cardi B has a 2024 Super Bowl ad airing on CBS, but you'll have to search YouTube or social media for the second half of the NYX Professional Makeup “Lips Only” ad.
A 30-second spot was approved to air during the Super Bowl, the brand says, but the full one-minute ad was not approved. Advertising sign reps at CBS have been contacted for comment.
The 30-second Cardi B x NYX commercial has the rapper promoting the brand's 'Duck Face' lip product, which she says will deliver “bigger” and “fuller” results.
An uncut version of the New York ad starring Cardi was released online ahead of the big game, garnering more than two million views on YouTube at the time of publication.
The 60-second version, which does not air on television during the Super Bowl, shows the men's immediate reaction to the product after apparently confusing the word “duck” with another four-letter word beginning with “d” and ending with with a “ck” — and unfortunately they've made some poor decisions about how to use the product they fill. Chaos ensues.
“They put it on where?” Cardi asks as the hashtag #ForLipsOnly pops up on screen.
The abbreviated version of the “Lips Only” ad that airs during the Kansas City Chiefs vs. The San Francisco 49ers will display “a QR code directing viewers to watch the 60-second unedited version currently being shared on NYX Professional Makeup's YouTube and social channels,” NYX reps wrote in a press release.
“In the words of Cardi B, 'This is suspicious… this is weird,'” NYX said.
Cardi shared a preview of the ad on her Instagram account on Saturday. “Lips only,” she captioned the clip, adding a kiss and wink emoji to her message.
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporterwho was on set when the rapper shot the ad, Cardi said she liked that the idea behind the ad poked fun at men.
