Original Misfits drummer Manny Martinez, who played on the legendary group's debut single “Cough/Cold” and b-side “She,” has reportedly died aged 69.
Martinez was only in the group for a short time after forming the band with frontman Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only, appearing on their 1977 debut single and their first live shows before leaving the band in late 1977.
The news of his death was announced by Original Misfits Fiend Crypt Facebook fan page. They wrote: “Hello, sad news.
“Original Misfits drummer Manny Martinez has been confirmed dead. Manny joined Glenn when he started working in the Misfits after being in the band PONY; he and Glenn rehearsed as a duo for a while before Jerry joined them alone.
“Manny did the original rehearsal/live drumming for many of the songs that would later be recorded for the Static Age album.
“His time with the Misfits was short, about a year, only playing drums on their first single, Cough/Cool, and playing about 8 shows with them.”
