The Oscars are here and many hate watching just to complain about which actor of color got snubbed. It is what it is, and sometimes they get it right, and here are the Black actors we root for who actually won.
After the #OscarsSoWhite hashtag went viral in 2016, thanks to April Reign, the Academy took notice and began diversifying its membership. While they may have gotten a little better at making sure actors of color make it, it's not much.
But here's who won in 2024, so far.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph won Best Actress for her lead role as Mary Lamb in The Holdovers. It's her first Oscar.
Cord Jefferson American fiction won Best Adapted Screenplay. Brilliant.
