Panda Bear is back to announce sinister screamher seventh solo album, set to be released on February 28, 2025. She also shared the album's lead single, “Defense (feat. Cindy Lee),” as well as a batch of 2025 North American tour dates with Toro y Moi.
Panda Bear, the solo project of Animal Collective member Noah Lennox, made sinister scream at his Campo Studio in Lisbon, Portugal, with fellow Animal Collective member Josh Dibb (aka Deakin). sinister scream follows his 2022 collaborative album with Sonic Boom, Rebootand will be Panda Bear's first solo album since 2019. buoys. “Working on this record felt like a warm, sacred return,” Dibb said in a press release. “Noah and I started recording music on multitrack cassettes in 1991. 32 years later and working in the same way, two friends alone in a room searching for sounds and feelings that move us, I am very proud of what we created together. sinister scream I feel like the songwriter I've known for over 30 years, but I also feel like kind of a new chapter for Noah. “I couldn't be more proud of the result.”
to support sinister screamPanda Bear will embark on a North American tour in 2025 alongside Toro y Moi. After completing a run of shows in the UK and EU in December 2024, the North American tour kicks off on February 6 in Minneapolis and continues through the winter with shows in Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington DC, Nashville and more.
The first leg of the tour ends with a show on February 21 in Atlanta; Panda Bear will then head to Europe for another series of shows before returning to the United States in May. It will hit cities on the West Coast and Southwest including Phoenix, Austin, Dallas, Denver, San Francisco and Seattle, concluding the tour with a May 23 date in Vancouver. Tickets for Panda Bear's 2025 tour go on sale Friday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. local time. An artist pre-sale will begin prior to the general sale, which will begin on Wednesday, October 16 at 10:00 am local time through Panda Bear's. website.
Panda Bear’s new song “Defense” features Cindy Lee (the nickname of Canadian musician Patrick Flegel), who is currently in the midst of a big year following the release of her album. Diamond Jubilee. Lee plays guitar on the track, on which Lennox sings over a mid-tempo trot.
