Pantera kicked off their 2024 North American tour with Lamb of God on Saturday (February 3) in Sunrise, Florida, and the set featured a pleasant surprise for die-hard fans.
The reunited metal legends, featuring classic members Philip Anselmo and Rex Brown alongside Zakk Wylde and Charlie Benante, performed a 14-song set spanning their entire career. The unexpected highlight came when Pantera revisited the dark seven-minute masterpiece “Floods,” the first performance of the standout track. The Great South Trendkill since 2001. A fan favorite, “Floods” is one of the group's wittiest and most downbeat moments, warranting comparisons to one of Philip Anselmo's other projects, Down.
The rest of the night saw Pantera performing a set similar to the ones they performed last year during their initial meeting. the awakening Vulgar demonstration of power The track “A New Level” kicked off the setlist (“Floods” came near the middle) and the band finished the set with a massive final barrage of “Walk,” “Domination,” “Hollow” and “Cowboys from Hell.” . with an encore of “Fucking Hostile”.
Next up, Pantera and Lamb of God will play Monday night (Jan. 5) in Tampa, Florida, then make stops in markets like Nashville, Kansas City, Green Bay, New York and Baltimore before wrapping up on Feb. 27. in Quebec City. . you can get tickets here.
