Kubik co-founded Abigor in 1993 alongside drummer and guitarist Thomas Tannenberger and remained the group's only constant member until his passing. In total, the band has released 13 albums, the most recent from 2023. Taphonomia Aeternitatis – Gesänge im Leichenlicht der Welt.

Both the debut and its follow-up, the 1995 album Nachthymnen (From the Twilight Realm)helped establish the band—and Napalm Records—among black metal circles, and each is considered a classic of the genre's early-'90s style.
Led by Kubik, Abigor took a more experimental/progressive approach on their next albums, and Tannenberger left the group in 1999 before returning in 2006. The aforementioned 2023 LP, Taphonomia Aeternitatis – Gesänge im Leichenlicht der WeltIt received critical acclaim upon its release, with fans ranking it among the band's best works.
