Polo G's legal issues continued this week in New York as the rapper was arrested on gun charges after a loaded firearm was found in his Manhattan hotel room.
The Chicago rapper, born Taurus Bartlett, faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon and possession of a loaded firearm after a maid cleaning his room at New York's Dominick Hotel called police after finding the gun. The New York Post References.
Bartlett was arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court and released soon after on $25,000 bail. The case was scheduled for court on June 4.
Bartlett's arrest comes eight months after the rapper was arrested twice in two days on kidnapping, robbery and assault charges stemming from two separate incidents in the Los Angeles area in October 2023. Bartlett's younger brother Tauren — a rapper who goes by the name Trench Baby — was also charged in both incidents. A month later, in November 2023, Tauren Bartlett was charged with felony murder in connection with a June 2023 shooting.
Prior to that, Polo G was arrested in June 2021 on charges of assaulting a police officer, threatening a public servant, resisting an officer with violence against his person, resisting an officer without violence against him, and criminal mischief following an incident with law enforcement after the rapper threw an album release party in Miami. The majority of those charges — including the two felonies — were eventually dismissed as part of a plea deal where the rapper enrolled in a diversion program before trial.
Amidst all the legal issues, Polo G has continued to release new music, with his single, “Sorry and Ferraris,” coming in February 2024. The rapper's next album, the follow-up to 2021's chart-topping LP Hall of Fameexpected to be released this summer.
