Psych rockers Pond are back to announce their tenth album, Chopped!which will arrive on June 21 via Spinning Top Records.
Chopped! It may be Pond's tenth album since their ramshackle 2009 debut. Psychedelic Handle, but it is their first double album. Composed of 14 songs, the Australian band names Fleetwood Mac's Canine and the prince Times Signature as influences on Chopped!, and the album promises Pond at his most free and expansive. They previously saw a preview Chopped! with the album's first single, “Neon River,” back in January, featuring the band's typical hallmarks: majestic melodies, fuzzy guitars, and unbridled enthusiasm.
For the next offer Chopped!, the band has shared the album's title track, “(I'm) Stung.” With joyful acoustic guitar strums and a passionate performance from frontman Nick Allbrook, “(I'm) Stung” is warm and whimsical. Allbrook narrates the all-consuming feeling of being in love with someone and being rejected: “It's so simple/ Being rejected/ I got stung/ But it's not infected,” says the song's opening lines. Pond also shared the song's music video, which features Allbrook painted silver and the band parading around a desert sand dune with a kite that resembles a bee. Look the following video.
In addition to a series of dates in Europe and Australia/New Zealand in the summer and fall, Pond is scheduled to play a short run of shows in the US in May. Dates begin in Nashville on May 1 and end in San Diego on May 18, with shows in Atlanta, Austin, Denver, Los Angeles and more in between; get tickets for all the dates of their upcoming tours here.
Chopped! is Pond's first album since 2021 9. Last year, we named Pond's 2015 album Man, it feels like space again as one of the 50 greatest stoner albums of all time.
