Later this month, New Orleans-based indie duo The Lostines are releasing their forthcoming debut album, Meet the Lostines. Like their two previous EPs, the record finds songwriters Casey Jane Reece-Kaigler and Camille Wind Weatherford teaming up with a host of local collaborators to create a rootsy blend of folk, rock and country, blending dusty instrumentals with their luscious vocal harmonies . The band has already shared “Full moon night” and “Neon lights” from the record and today they return with a third and final single, “After Party”, which premieres with Under the Radar.
“After Party” is an easy and party-ready effort, with Reece-Kaigler and Weatherford's vocals dancing in warm harmonies between a sunny fiddle, intense pedal steel and comfortable country guitar lines. There's plenty of swampy aesthetics and simmering energy on the track, but the pair also exude a sense of playful, old-time romance. Together, their vocals deliver a love-struck lyricism accompanied by charming girl harmonies: “The night's dark and the party's over/So come to the fence and be my lover/I know you're gone in the morning light/But I'm gonna love you all night long ».
“It was probably 2014, maybe 2015, and I was living right on the fence in New Orleans in a house infamously called 'sister street.' My roommate at the time, Pat Reedy, moved to Nashville after at least a decade of living in New Orleans, and we threw him a big party. I was newly single, from a relationship that lasted most of my 20s, and felt light and free for the first time in a while. The song speaks of the sweetness and sloppiness of those nights.”
