A$AP Ferg's “Work” has found a new lease on life thanks to the surgical precision of Proppa, Rich DietZ, and Smith & Sorren.
The producers have fused, chopped up and reassembled the three-times platinum hip-hop smash into a Frankenstein-esque four-song banger. Harnessing the original's inescapable melody, they strip “Work” down to its spine, then rebuild it from the ground up as a tech house colossus.
The original’s gritty style now cuts through a dense, thunderous bassline, the kind that makes subwoofers question their life choices. The result is a reworking that feels equally at home at a sweaty warehouse party or on a late-night Uber ride, bridging gaps and proving that sometimes the best way to honor a song is to turn it on its head.

Apparently, Proppa, Rich DietZ, and Smith & Sorren took Ferg's lyrics, “Straight out of the plane, dropping the flame,” to heart. They reunited and quickly got into the studio to produce the song together in Chicago, where they each performed during Hood Politics Records' epic stage takeover at the North Coast Music Festival.
“It's really unfair that this team got together in a studio, but it's no surprise that pure magic came out of the session,” the label said.
Hood Politics was everywhere at North Coast. Label founder DJ Susan, a member of EDM.com’s Class of 2024, replaced Moksi on the festival’s “Shipyard” stage and played a song cycle of the label’s hip-house hits. That includes “Everything Off (Ante Up),” an upcoming collaboration with Rich DietZ, who joined him onstage for one of the set’s most electric moments.
Meanwhile, Chicago's own Sherm shined on the main stage at The Stadium, delivering one of the best DJ sets of the festival in his hometown. It was his fifth consecutive year performing at North Coast.
