Recording Academy Topics Call for “Why I Vote” Member Video Submissions.

The Recording Academy issued a call to action via email for its voting members on Monday (August 5) to submit smartphone videos in which they answer questions such as: “Why do you take the time to vote at the Grammy Awards every year?” The academy will then combine excerpts from the submitted clips to create “at least two short compilation videos.” Additionally, individual member videos will be shared throughout September on the Academy's social platforms.

The academy doesn't want these videos to be self-serving promotional clips, so they advised members to “avoid promoting any personal or commercial projects in your submission. … Videos named in your or other Grammy Award submissions will not be considered for inclusion.” And they don't want people to be fooled, so they added: “Keep videos under 90 seconds.”

In the email, the academy asked participants to answer any of the following questions in their submissions:

Members have until Thursday, August 15 at midnight PT to submit their videos, though the academy says their form will be closed after 50 submissions are received. Members' submitted videos will be part of the academy's voter engagement campaign, which will launch in early September across the organization's digital channels.

Both individual member videos and compilation videos will be released on the organization's Instagram and TikTok accounts (and may also be released on X, Facebook and LinkedIn). Use is for approximately one year until July 31, 2025. Academy cautions: Due to the expected number of submissions, use of all videos is not guaranteed.
