Saweetie, Cynthia Erivo, Lucy Liu, Hello Kitty to be honored at 2024 Gold Gala Event

The third annual Gold Gala will be held at the Music Center in downtown Los Angeles on May 11 and will feature performances by Saweetie, Lucy Liu, Cynthia Erivo, Padma Lakshmi and the cast of Beef.

The definitive annual gathering of Asia Pacific's top leaders and multicultural leaders will bring together more than 600 guests to celebrate the 2024 A100 list — to be announced on May 1 — which counts down Asia Pacific's 100 most influential people in culture and society in the past year.

With the theme of 2024 A Gold New World, the event will envision “a tomorrow for all, built by all,” according to a press release announcing event details, with award-winning fashion designer Prabal Gurung bringing the theme to life as the first of the event. – always a creative director. Guests will dine on a three-course Michelin-starred dinner from OpenTable, with a menu designed by Lakshmi and Gold Gala Executive Director Vijay Kumar and his team from Michelin-starred New York restaurant Semma.

The evening will close with a performance by 2023 A100 honoree Saweetie, who will receive the first Billboard Gold Music Honor recognizing her boundary-pushing musical achievements at the event. Plus, the cast and creators of the Emmy Award-winning Beef will receive the Gold Icon Honor for their groundbreaking representation of the Asian American experience, while Bad The Erivo star will receive the Gold Ally Honor for her work to promote inclusive representation in front of and behind the camera.

This year, I focused on making the Gold Gala feel truly global while feeling local, balancing the breadth of our sprawling diaspora with its bold, unified heart,” Gurung said in a statement. “From organic and towering arboreal growths to the central spheres that shape us—our sun, moon, Earth—we envision a new, more holistic, more centered world that allows us all to flourish.”

HYBE founder and chairman bang Si-Hyuk will be awarded the Lifetime Achievement Gold Legend Honor and Hello Kitty's 50th anniversary will be celebrated with the Gold Generation Award.

The Gold Gala will follow the inaugural Billboard x Gold House Founders Party, which will feature a headlining set by producer/DJ Steve Aoki, as well as a special performance by RuPaul's Drag Race Season 16 winner Nymphia Wind, a karaoke room presented by Rakuten Viki and an additional set by DJ Hu Dat.
